Autonomy: Discover your true identity!

As described in the section on Awakening, it is a life-changing shift for most people to see the vast array of unexamined assumptions, beliefs and rules that they have held to as a surrogate for reality.  As the scope of the illusion they have been under sinks in and the Belief System Myth is exposed, a marvelous realization soon comes with it.

“I am not who I thought I was!  All those ideas, beliefs, models, and definitions that I let define me, are nothing more than someone else’s opinion or scorekeeping system. And the people who defined me and others with their systems of philosophy, sociology, economics, theology or politics probably had little or no self-awareness at all. They themselves were blinded or lulled to sleep by unconscious adherence to a system of operating rules, beliefs, assumptions and cultural norms — much as I once was (and probably still am to some degree). But I can “decouple” or “come unglued” from arbitrary or illusionary assumptions and limits that have defined me.

But being able to start disentangling my true self — my authentic identity — from all of the webs of abstract concepts of my inner belief system “handbook,” (or that of other people) allows me to experience my true, one-of-a-kind personhood.  I am no longer defined by my age, gender, race, education, social status, occupation, political, social or religious opinions.  I cannot be put on a scale of valuation to determine who is a “better” or “lesser” person than me. I, like everyone else, was created for a noble purpose.

In this section, we will hear from people who have discovered their true identity. They will describe the ways that new awareness of their own unique purpose, message and power emerged, when the masks and shrouds of many false self-images were exposed and stripped away.
